Holly Hope, special projects historian with the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program, will serve as the guest speaker for the February Ark-Homa Chapter Meeting at 7 p.m. Feb. 16. The event will be held in the Echols Conference Center on the University of Arkansas 鈥 Fort Smith campus.
Hope鈥檚 presentation, titled 鈥淔lora, Fauna and Faces: Reading Cemetery Symbolism,鈥 examines the meanings of symbols often found on headstones and monuments in Arkansas cemeteries.

In her role at the AHPP, she writes nominations for the National Register of Historic Places, gives lectures on cemetery-related topics, facilitates and organizes hands-on cemetery workshops across the state and travels across the state documenting buildings and cemeteries.
