The Student Veterans Organization will host a formal banquet at the Smith-Pendergraft Campus Center from 6-10 pm. Nov. 11 in recognition of Veterans Day. The banquet is a fundraiser to help support the travel expenses for the 2017 Student Veterans of America National Conference in Anaheim, Calif.

At the banquet, guests will be served dinner and have the opportunity to catch a glimpse into the military world. A panel of student veterans will answer questions from attendees about transitioning to civilian life, their personal ambitions, resources that have benefited them on campus, and their personal stories. After the panel, there will be a dance floor opened for guests until the end of the event.

The event will fund a trip to a conference providing an opportunity for student veterans to receive professional development skills, networking opportunities, and on-spot interviews from military-friendly corporations such as Disney, Google, Raytheon, and NASA. Attendees of the conference will also learn tips from hundreds of national chapter leaders on ways to better their local organizations.

Tickets are $20 for the general public and free for students, faculty and staff. Tickets will be available to acquire or purchase at the Veterans Resource Center, located in room 120 in the Smith-Pendergraft Campus Center.
