Children and teenagers can find something to enjoy from the 23 summer camps offered by the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹ûÏÖ³¡Ö±²¥ - Fort Smith through the university’s Academy of the Arts, Athletic Department and the Department of Music and Theatre.

 

The schedule includes:

 

Academy Camps

May 31-August 5: Private music lessons for ages 5 and up available in piano, woodwinds, acting, brass, percussion, dance, visual arts and string instruments, as well as voice lessons. Five- and 10-week options are available for 30-, 45- or 60-minute weekly lessons. Fees vary by length of session and includes a free T-shirt. Lesson times are scheduled at student’s convenience. June 1-29: Musikgarten for ages 0-4, conducted by Alice Sanders, with class times varying by age. Fee is $75 and includes a free T-shirt. June 6-10: Art Camp for grades 1-5, conducted by Marianne Nicodemus and held from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. at the 51st Annex. Students will experiment in a variety of mediums including sculpture, painting and drawing, in addition to studying famous artists. Fee is $175 and includes a free T-shirt. June 20-24: Broadway Bootcamp for grades 7-12 and recent graduates, conducted by Shannon Stoddard, Mollie Armour and Gini Law and held from 12–6 p.m. each day. Fee is $200 and includes a free T-shirt. The camp is an intensive week of musical theatre featuring students performing their favorite Broadway musicals. Participants meet daily at The Blue Lion at Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹ûÏÖ³¡Ö±²¥ Downtown. A final performance will take place at 6 p.m. June 24. June 20-24: Drums Alive Camp for grades 4-7, conducted by Hachya Franklin from 9-11 a.m. each day. Fee is $120 and includes a free T-shirt. Participants meet daily at The Blue Lion at Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹ûÏÖ³¡Ö±²¥ Downtown. In this new camp, kids will drum and move to high-energy music. July 11-16: Broadway Babies for grades 1-2, conducted by Shannon Stoddard and Adrein Parmenter and held from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. each day. Fee is $175 and includes a free T-shirt.
