All Majors Career Fair Slated for March 3

Written By: Samantha Contreras

“It is definitely a job-seeker’s market,” said Susan Krafft, executive director of Career Services and the Babb Center for Student Professional Development at the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith. Krafft and her team will host the annual All Majors Career Fair from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Thursday, March 3, in the Reynolds Room of the Smith-Pendergraft Campus Center.

According to a , just 69 percent of 2020 college graduates are employed, far lower than the average employment rate of 78 percent in 2019. The Career Services department aims to raise that statistic locally, helping connect soon-to-be graduates and current students with stable, fulfilling careers.

“Our goal is to connect students with the employers and positions that help them gain great experience, knowledge, and skills that will further their professional goals,” said Krafft. “The All Majors Career Fair gives students an informal opportunity to meet with potential employers, learn about their business and services, and see if they might be a good fit.”

Regional and national employers will be on hand and students in all fields of study are encouraged to attend. The Career Fair is free and open to the public.

Krafft says the Career Fair is great for students that aren’t ready for full-time employment to begin networking with companies in their field of study as well as for upcoming seniors because it is an excellent way to kickstart their job search to be employed as soon as they graduate.

“We anticipate having between 40 to 50 employers on hand,” said Krafft, adding that a table map of employers will be available at the event.
