Develop your skills in a career fields of electronic technologies, communication, and industrial control systems with an Associate of Applied Science and Technology in electronics technology.

The Associate of Applied Science in electronics technology is designed to train students in theory and practical skills that prepare them for jobs in the maintenance of common electrical and electronic devices and instruments. The emphasis covers installation, diagnosis, and repair of computer systems; digital communication equipment; industrial control systems to include motor controllers, program logic controllers, sensors, and robotics; communication systems; and various advanced electronic equipment/systems. Completing this program is also the first step in completing the Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering technology.

  • Explain the fundamental principles of safety for electronics and electricity.
  • Integrate electronic principles into working circuits.
  • Control industrial automated systems through both selection of PLC system components and designing ladder logic PLC programs.
  • Apply robot programs and operate industrial robots to perform tasks.

Technical Certificate


This 26-hour program provides you with fundamental coursework in electricity, electronics technology, industrial electricity, and PLC applications. All hours earned with this credential transfer into the A.A.S. program.


Certificates of Proficiency


This 9-hour program provides you with fundamental coursework in electricity, electronics technology, industrial electricity, and electrical circuits and components. All hours earned with this credential transfer into the A.A.S. program.


This 9-hour program provides you with fundamental coursework in robot operations and maintenance, robot programming, and robot studio programming. All hours earned with this credential transfer into the A.A.S. program.


This program can be complete with 9-10 credit hours and provides you with fundamental coursework in energy, auditing, and generating clean electrons. All hours earned with this credential transfer into the A.A.S. program.

Industry Certification Preparation
Students completing courses of study in electronics technology will be prepared for the General Electronics Operations and Maintenance Certification exam as administered by the Electronics Technician Association (ETA). Students completing courses of study in industrial electronics and electrical maintenance will receive OSHA 10 general training (Department of Labor).
